WPS1 Water Purification Sodium Chlorite is the Part A component of our water purification solution (WPS) kit. Using the proper amount of sodium chlorite liquid, applying a 1:1 ratio mixing technique, this solution can be activated by combining it with the hcl 4% or citric acid activator to produce chlorine dioxide, a highly effective disinfectant agent that treats water without generating any harmful byproducts.
The lifespan of a sodium chlorite aqueous solution can vary depending on several factors, including its concentration, storage conditions, and exposure to light and heat. Generally, sodium chlorite solutions are stable and have a relatively long shelf life when stored properly.
It is recommended to store sodium chlorite solutions in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. This helps to prevent the degradation of the solution and ensures its effectiveness over time. When stored correctly, sodium chlorite solutions can maintain their potency for more than 2 years.
We offer the water purification sodium chlorite in two concentration variations of 25% and 22.4%. In order to make an informed decision when purchasing the right solution for your water purification kit and for your needs, it is important to understand how each strength is calculated.
In terms of strength, the 28% solution is not more concentrated than 22.4%; they are the same. 28% is the total weight of sodium chlorite powder contained in 72% aqueous solution, which includes 5.6% of inert salts contained in the powder as stabilizer. As a result, the actual amount of sodium chlorite by weight in the solution is 22.4%.
The total weight of sodium chlorite in a 25% solution is 31% (mixed in 69% of pure distilled water). The remaining 6% portion is comprised of common salt dissolved in the water.
In general, choosing 25% strength over 22.4% depends on the personal preference of the user. Some people prefer the 25% solution because they feel they can obtain a higher quality chlorine dioxide (CDS) when they combine it on a 1:1 ratio with the activator solution (hcl or citric acid ).
Both chemicals have similar applications and are commonly used in the water treatment and disinfection industry. While chlorine dioxide solution is a powerful disinfectant and oxidizing agent in its own right, sodium chlorite solution, also known as NaClO2, is a precursor to chlorine dioxide. This means that when sodium chlorite solution comes into contact with an acid liquid activator like hydrochloric acid or citric acid, it reacts to produce chlorine dioxide gas.
The activation of sodium chlorite to treat your water is the chemical reaction resulting from mixing the sodium chlorite solution with an acid activator (hydrochloric solution or citric acid solution).
During the reaction, sodium chlorite acts as the oxidizing agent, while citric acid serves as the reducing agent. The chlorine dioxide gas produced is highly effective in killing bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens present in water.
Disclaimer: 25% and 28% Sodium Chlorite (NaClO2) Solution is sold as a component (Part A) of our WPS Kit and intended to be used for water treatment only. Any consequences resulting from using this product in other applications is the sole responsibility of the user.
This water purification sodium chlorite solution is not approved by the FDA for internal use. As stated on its website, “The FDA has warned consumers about the dangers of Miracle or Master Mineral Solution, Miracle Mineral Supplement, MMS, Chlorine Dioxide (CD) Protocol, Water Purification Solution (WPS) and other similar products“.
