HCL 4% / 5% (Hydrochloric Acid Solution) | Part B WPS Kit

$16.93

Description

HCl 4% and HCl 5% (Hydrochloric Acid) solutions are versatile and widely used acid in various industries and applications. The correct ratios of water and Hydrochloric Acid determine the strength of the solution, with hcl 4% being the most common concentration used in combination of NaCLO2 in a 1:1 ratio to generate drops to purify water. If you are looking for a safe, easy to use water purifying set, our chlorine dioxide kit with hcl activator will meet your expectations.

What is HCL Solution?

HCl solution is a mixture of hydrochloric acid and water to obtain a specific concentration. It is a highly corrosive and strong acid that is widely used in various industries and applications. The concentration of HCl in the solution determines its strength and effectiveness for specific purposes.

HCL 4% vs HCL 5%

Hydrochloric Acid 4% Solution (or 5%) refers to the percentage of HCL present in an aqueous solution. These solutions are commonly used in drinking water purification, where a less concentrated acid is required.  In this case, the HCL 4% or 5% acts as an activator solution used in combination with sodium chlorite in equal parts to produce chlorine dioxide gas in water.

Is HCL a Water Purifier?

Hydrochloric acid (HCL) is not a water purifier on its own. It is primarily used as an activator in the process of generating chlorine dioxide from sodium chlorite. While HCl does have some disinfectant properties, it is not typically used as a standalone water purification solution.

How is HCL Used in Water Treatment?

Hydrochloric acid (HCl) is utilized in water treatment processes for various purposes. It can be used to adjust pH levels, neutralize alkaline substances, and control the growth of microorganisms. By adjusting the pH level, HCl solution helps in preventing the formation of deposits and maintaining the overall performance of the water treatment infrastructure.

In the context of water purification for personal or emergency use, HCl 4%  is employed as an activator for sodium chlorite solution 25% or 22.4% to facilitate the production of chlorine dioxide gas dissolved in water.

CDS vs HCL: The Difference

When discussing Hydrochloric Acid solution, it is important to differentiate it from CDS (Chlorine Dioxide Solution). Although both are used in water treatment, they have different properties and applications.

HCl, also known as hydrochloric acid, is commonly used for pH adjustment and neutralization of alkaline substances. It is an acidic solution that helps in maintaining the desired pH level in water systems.

On the other hand, CDS is a chlorine dioxide-based solution used for water disinfection. It is a powerful oxidizing agent that helps in killing bacteria, viruses, and other harmful microorganisms present in water. CDS is primarily used as a disinfectant rather than for pH adjustment.
